Songs and images,
From a time where love
Was a visceral thing,
Come from far away
To take place in the present.
Yet a beautiful form,
carved from stable stone,
Serves a much more tactile
Permanence and confidence
To extend into the distant future.
I will make my stand with stone,
See the whimsical for what it is,
And permit the Past to keep those things,
Both ephemeral and seductive,
For fools not wishing a legacy.
